BENE DESIGN LTD was founded in 1995 by architects Shirley Chang and B.
Christopher Bene in Hong Kong and New York City. Both principals lived
and practiced (as sole proprietors) in New York City after graduation
and both are licensed architects in the State of New York.
In 1993, Chang returned to Hong Kong to implement projects in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen. Subsequently, Chang and Bene joined up and founded the present firm. SHIRLEY CHANG is the founder and principal in charge of Design and Development, Branding and Marketing. Formerly associated with I. M. Pei & Partners in New York City, she helped design the Bank of China Building in Hong Kong. Ms. Chang is the founding Editor (1999--2002) of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Newsletter in Hong Kong. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and is a Licensed Architect in New York. Ms. Chang also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (since 2003). B. CHRISTOPHER BENE co-founded Chang Bene Design with partner Shirley Chang. He is the Principal in charge of Project Administration and Technology. In Princeton, New Jersey, Mr. Bene worked with Michael Graves Architect. In New York, he worked with Richard Meier & Partners and with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, where he helped design the Goldman, Sachs Headquarters Building in New York and the National Commercial Bank Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Bene attended Brown University, the University of Virginia and Princeton University. He is a Licensed Architect in New York. |
